Dept. of Computer Science and Information Engineering

Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering
The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE) was established and began to accept its first master degree students in 1995, undergraduate students in 1997, part-time executive master students in 2000, and Ph.D. degree students in 2001. Since 2011, we have initiated the All-English-Taught Programs, accepting Ph.D, Master, and Undergraduate students from native and around the world. Furthermore, we receive exchange students from sister schools each semester as well. At present, there are 20 full-time professors, 500+ graduate and undergraduate students, and 100+ international students from over 30 countries around the world.
Following our school principles of academic freedom and excellence, the CSIE department has established our own identity and has been continuously contributing to academic researches and industrial developments in Eastern Taiwan, as well as the informatics and electronics industries in nation.

Program

The CSIE Department offers students great choices of subjects including all related CSIE academic fields and heaped practical trainings for both advanced study and employment. The flexible program-based curriculum system allows students to enroll in courses across disciplines. Students may take additional specialized courses from Multimedia Technologies & Intelligent Computing Module, Network & System Module, and cross-discipline modules. In order to build up the solid hands-on experiences, all undergraduate students are required to join into research labs and to engage in one-year-long independent study projects before graduation. All graduate students are required to involve in academic or industrial projects and to defend their theses/dissertations before graduation.
